I researched education in the Philippines, a country that raised the participation in all levels of education for generations. Despite this high rate of school enrollment, the Philippines has been characterized by low economic development associated with low levels of social change, particularly in the field of social mobility.
One aspect of my research was to determine whether there were aspects of the education system itself, which leads to these results. I focused on the privacy of education over the Philippines, an aspect that was most important in the last quarter of the twentieth century when, because of structural adjustment programs, there was a lack of investment in public education.
